oh, and if the internet provider is giving you the run-around.
http://www.ip-adress.com/
go here, type in the IP address and it'll tell you exactly where the server is that they are connected to. It gives you the IP latitude and IP longitutde.
tell them that it is being connected at this server location and they'll be able to location exactly which hub it's being connected at and .. yea. trace the burgulars home down..
its says I'm from Phoenix but I"m not from there.....or is that where my ISP is from?

I wonder what the special promotion is.
Probably in the form of "bundles" where you're required to buy an iPad with their special accessory packs just so they can push overpriced accessories out of the door.

The ad is very misleading because it leaves out any EDGE coverage. T-Mobile and AT&T do not have roaming for 3G HSPA since they each use different frequencies for their 3G netowrks.
Doesn't AT&T piggyback on T-mobile's network and vice-versa? Shouldn't the map reflect that?

Now that just doesn't work for me either. It's saying I'm in Oxford. :confused:It's not your location, but the location of the device that gave you your IP address.

More sensationalist "reporting" from another tech blog. Best Buy has been known for holding hot items (game consoles, etc.) for Sunday flyer promotions, for years. It was obvious that was what was going on here.
But no, Tech-Crunch-Gear-Whatever has to drag Apple, even Tim Cook into it. What a bunch of gossip rags... it's embarrassing.
Hey, then Mac*Rumours* is equally a gossip rag for posting such stories in the first place! ;-)

I can't imagine why Apple would have an event like this if there was going to be only Disney content available.

I'm sure you're not a journalism professional. I don't think the point of this should be whether it was funny or not. Fine, you found it funny, others didn't, that's the nature of jokes. The point is: the press observes. One cannot observe something without influencing it or changing it in some, at least, small way. But it is not the business of the press *to set about to* change or influence that which they observe.
i'm not a journalism professional, i'm an electrical engineer major (about to graduate). something like this is funny. yes it's disruptive. did it cost millions to companies? doubtful. Perhaps security should be better. Allowing a few people to easily ruin presentations and shut down walls of displays is an absurd thought. that shouldn't be able to happen at an event of this size. perhaps, a company should be aware of cheap hacks that can foil their displays. it was stated on this thread the rs-232 ports are designed for features like this. use em.
ban the individual jerk(s) that did this. not the whole blog.

I am looking forward to installing Windows 8 on my MBA via Parallels. From what I'm seeing, it's looking good, very good!
Here's a few pictures of the Windows App Store.

Here's the reality of this non-issue...
You'd be up in arms if Google were doing it. Or anyone else to that matter.
I like how you have, yet again, managed to turn a non-Apple related discussion, to a discussion about Apple. Grats.

a nice iPod Video with NEF/RAW reading capability for us photographers, I'm a waiting customer. And yes, a smaller MacBook with 10 hour battery life, non-reflective screen and a graphics card to use it with Aperture/RAW would be sooo nice... :)

T-Mo may have screwed the pooch on their 3G rollout, but my phone doesn't drop 30% of my calls. It'll be interesting to see how ATT, and TMo keep up with the 3G coverage, as Verizon and Sprint move forward.

So an app advertises an app for advertising more apps.
Nice one Apple.

Advertising for this just writes itself! ...

Interested in downloading an app with no functionality beyond JUST feeding Apple advertising revenue?
There's an APP for that!".

I find it hilarious that Steve Jobs claimed Apple was not tracking users, but now all of a sudden we find Location tracking being completely removed from this version of iOS, that is honestly something that annoyes me..
Well that's just wrong... they aren't completely removing location tracking in anything. Just fixing "bugs" that stored to much information in a file on your phone.
FAIL

Im loving the amout of sarcasm in this thread I was afraid it would not be picked up. This is a good update to the software and free is even better.
I do, however, think people are just tired of waiting for new macbook pros. Apple really does need to get on that update if they are going to justify charging $1999+ for the notebook.

if there are new product announcements as everyone believes to be the case, the store will have to be updated as well as the iTunes store.
does anyone remember how long the apple store's down prior to new products being listed?
If I remember correctly about an hour before showtime. Hey cool I made a pun.
