Yeah while Apple realizes people want their mobile smartphone to be small and portable as that is a key part of the puzzle the rest of the industry is trying to duplicate this:

If I own a PC and I want to run Vista, why would I want to also run Vista, on the same machine, in a virtual environment?
I do it all the time with XP. For one, it is a simple, clean environment that, if corrupted, can be restored with the copy of a single file. Whenever I do any "questionable" web surfing, not only do I use Firefox, I do it inside a virtual machine so that there is no chance in hell any of my real machine can be touched.
For Mac users, why would we want to install Vista-(via BootCamp) and then also use it under virtualization?
Again I'm doing the same exact thing with XP and my MacBook Pro. Parallels for most situations, BootCamp for when I need bare metal.

What if Apple puts regular Sandy Bridge Processors instead of ULVs. Then, would anyone here consider getting one? Toshiba did it, and they're getting 8+ hours of battery life on their Portege line. CNET has been gushing over Toshiba's Portege Line. That's who Apple should be looking at, not Samsung Series 9.

wow... that is such ****! pardon my french but that is rediculous... they gonna discount the bill by a 30%? they ought to. totally unacceptable.
I got verizon, and I RARELY get dropped calls nowadays, the service got better over the years... im not gonna lie and say it never happens, but i dont remember the last time i had one.
to be fair with AT&T i gotta ask, are those calls only 30 seconds long or 30 minutes long and then gets dropped? 30 second dropped call would piss me off compared to a 30 minute one. if it drops at 30 minutes AT&T is doing ya a favor not accidently running up the minutes hahah

...I'm all for personal freedoms and not letting people tell others what to do with their bodies, but I don't want to subsidize stupid behavior like this. I say make her carry her own weight, and I mean that both literally and figuratively.
I don't disagree with you on this. I am by no means whatsoever advocating that everyone should gain a hundred or so pounds just because I happen to like plenty of curves. What this person was hinting at doing is indeed physically dangerous, in fact just as dangerous long-term as a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass or other drastic weight-loss measure.
Thank goodness she recanted her statement afterward. I think she was starting to enjoy the publicity after the first couple of media appearances-- it's not everyday a big girl gets attention, y'know-- but after a while she saw the negative aspect of that publicity and decided it wasn't for her.

Yeah, after all if you buy a coffee there u have to sign a waiver of responsibility for burns, then reply YES three times to the cashier asking "Are you sure you want to buy this potentially scalding-hot coffee?" ... but what's it matter, thanks to people not wanting to take responsibility we can't buy coffee above 82 degrees fahrenheit. lol

I honestly think "0.37 inch" is probably accurate enough for both white and black, as they are probably both within 0.365-0.375 inches. 0.01 inches = 0.25 mm, which is more like what it looks like the difference is in the pic to me...

Note that there's a reason this is a private beta. It's rough still. There are bugs that will freeze your Mac. That requires a hard power-off, and even though we have journaled HFS+, there's still the chance of corrupting the image.
In other words, don't use this unless you really know what you're getting into. Wait for the public beta unless you're experienced with rough software.
Otherwise, it looks like it will put up a good fight against Parallels. That's very useful, as I'd like them to add some of the features VMware has had for years (access to raw HD partitions, for example).

Apple really really needs to get on this... As far as some Script Kiddie wanting to make a name for themself the mass of mac users would need to be higher. There are still currently not enough mac users to warrent such acts, you would not get notice. I feel that a lot of coders find holes in XP because then they can exploit big business, were as macs are more often than not home computers. If apple its athe big 10% mark this will all change.

I'm honestly surprised by a lot of you. The whole "no single android phone outsells the iPhone!" argument, is foolish and weak. It's a platform war. You basically get ONE CHOICE with the iPhone. Now it's a great choice, but of course it's going to be a top seller as a result. There are so many good Android choices out there that a single model isn't going to dwarf the others. Since there are, you know, options? As a platform it seems iOS is getting whooped on. Does that not register, or are people that much in denial?
Now myself, I like my iPhone, but come on...in this case we are talking about platforms...So weird...
It's a platform war, but not in the way that a lot of people think it is. Developers are making a lot more money on iOS because it has a lot more users and those users tend to buy things. Therefore, those users are going to get the developers' attention first. That may change later, but for now, it's not going to.

When Apple goes to all carriers (it will in time) in the US, this is all going to look a lot different. Android may still "win" in terms of sheer numbers, but it will be a much closer fight, and iPhone will still have the mind share.
I knew a lot of my friends and family would go iPhone once it went to Verizon, but I am really really surprised to find out that it's a lot more people than I even thought. One friend of mine JUST got her Droid 2 a few months ago and dumped it immediately for the Verizon iPhone the other day. She was a self proclaimed "Android person".
People who settled for Android are changing their tune. This is going to get really interesting.

That is different then having AppleTalk active on a network connection.
How so? That means the AppleTalk network stack is loaded.. needlessly, and potentially wasting resources, no?
Regardless, I find it rather odd that the service should be enabled by default given it's depricated status. I mean.. MacTels cannot run Classic, yet a major banner of the Classic OS (pre-8.6) is enabled by default? No one else sees that as odd? <shrug>

Why are you guys expecting Apple to drop a USB port for the Thunderbolt?
If Apple includes Thunderbolt it will be shared with the Mini DisplayPort. Just like on the MBP's. Which was already present on the MBA so I don't see the need to drop a USB port.
I'm not sure if it will get one though due to the footprint of the new chip on the motherboard.

As a typical consumer, same as a prosumer, or pro -- speed. For example, backing up your iDevice, importing big megapixel photos and HD videos will be a whole lot quicker.
It will also make connections easier as TB can handled video, audio, and data in the same cable.
