I fail to see how your questions have any relevance to this effort but anyway, below are my thoughts.
How many members does IV have in total?
Around 30-40K
What % out of that total has not filed 485 yet?
Maybe around 5K-10K. No one knows for sure. Getting to know this number was the purpose of the survey!!But that doesnt mean we should not reach out to newer members who do not know about this initiative and get them to sign up as well.
Only if we know these two can we say that you need 5000 to go ahead with this plan.

You are looking at it from a very narrow perspective. Think about how much persuasion it will take for Congress or USCIS to stick their head out and even attempt to consider this proposal! No one is waiting to create an opportunity for us to file I-485. Even USCIS knows roughly from their own data that there are >50-70K folks waiting to file I-485. They just wont acknowledge it because they know the status quo works for them and they are following rules. If we go to them with 1000 letters, the impression will be that less than 2% folks are really desperate for this fix. So why should it even be considered.. especialy considering the climate in the Congress where several anti Congressmen/Congresswomen are waiting to shoot off a letter to the USCIS asking for clarification on why they are doing even very minor (much much smaller than this admin fix) favorable actions for EB immigrant applicants.
1200 seems to be a good number
If you really think so after reading the response above, Pls go ahead and convince IV-Core to proceed with 1200. Contact pappu or starsun.

Well, the fear I have is that prior to my AOS being filed , I was not paid for 5-6 months in the initial few months of start of H1. And I am not sure if thats considered out of status (bench period). So if during H1 extension this thing comes up I am worried that my AOS will get affected by this. I have read at least one case where they asked during I-485 this information.

I think your attorney is right... Was your 140 approved in September.. meaning.. is Sept 19 close to your approval date? if that is the case I wouldn't worry. But if your approval was much earlier than Sept then it could be something to clarify from USCIS.

Both Shaktisagar and Greyhair make very valid points. Which side wins the argument well only time will tell. Nothing works the way it ideally should. The world is evolving and this recession and all this policies are all part of the evolution. People have started rethinking the value of having money versus true peace/hapiness slowly. In the US the disparity was partly hidden by the "plastic". Everybody was given a plastic and everybody could buy and live the "dream". Well that has just about ended to some extent. The problem is that, it is just about begining in Indian/china/brazil and russia.
What brings real peace/hapiness? Once 3rd world citizens (like Indians) get over the issue of "am I better than my neighbour?" India will progress towards its real goal very fast. The real goal being true peace and hapiness rather than the pseudo/fancy/fantasy/unreal/materialistic world that is propagated by the media.
If only we all had easy access to our inner ability for tremendous patience to tide over this process of evolution.......But it lies beyond our reach while we lie rolling in the misery created by our thoughts and desires.........

On my monitor it looks too grey and washed out... I guess what this shows is there is a big difference in monitors, the printed product is perhaps what counts in the end. I've been thinking of replacing my monitors, they are getting old and I can't get them quite right according to the Eye One calibration software.

First of all, make sure you double check everything I say here with an immigration lawyer. I am not an immigration lawyer and my knowledge is based on forums like these.
Ok.
You still have another 2 months before you begin the last year of your initial 6-year H1 term.
If you new employer is willing to do H1, then FILE H1 as soon as possible. You will get a 3 year H1 term with your new employer based on your current 140 that is approved(with your current employer). The thing is - beyond the 6th year, you can get 3 year extensions of H1 if your 140 is approved(with someone, anyone, it doesnt have to be your employer at that time). Now, if you quit your current employer and go with new one and you end up getting only 1 year H1 with the new employer(in case if you cannot somehow use your current approved 140 to get a 3 year H1), then its still ok. But have your new employer start the new GC's labor right away. That way, you will have 365 days passed when your 6 year term is over in Aug 2007, making you eligible for 7th year of H1. This is very important.
Yes, if your old employer is going to withdraw your labor and 140, then your new employer will have to start GC from scratch. That begins with PERM labor. If you file under EB2, I think you can still transfer your priority date from your old EB3 labor and 140 to new EB2 process. (however, better make sure from a lawyer).

Can I change my company and relocate to another state and still keep the current GC application going? I assume my old company will still approve and sign anything that they can help. They are pretty generous.

If person is working for same company after MS then he/she cannot use experience for GC for same company. One of my friend got GC who was working for same company since he graduated and got GC under EB2. He had 4 years of exp after MS when he applied but could not show
Its not a major issue since MS itself is viewed as 5 years of experience. The question is whether the company and DOL is willing to accept business necessity clause for Masters/5 years experience. By default most occupation fall into Job Zone 4 (EB3) unless shown business necessity and proved during an Audit.
Doctors, Lawyers etc fall into Job Zone 5 (EB2)

There are, of course, other things involved and it is a complex subject. In short, Employment Agreement given enough ammunitions for employer to file at least a civil suit against employee.
Please consult a good lawyer before signing any such contract.

Yes, We did sign the lawyer form. Lawyer first got a copy and informed us. He also told us that we would be getting one. And we got one.
